Garden centers and plant nurseries sell annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, vegetables and houseplants, along with soil, mulch, fertilizer, pots and tools. Independent nurseries often grow part of their own stock and carry varieties that do well in the local climate, while big-box garden departments compete on price for common plants. Wholesale nurseries and growers sell to landscapers and sometimes to the public at volume prices; tree nurseries sell balled-and-burlapped and container trees and can deliver and plant large specimens. Specialty growers focus on bonsai, cactus and succulents, orchids or native plants, and hydroponics stores sell lights, nutrients and systems for growing indoors.

Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Philadelphia is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I purchased the 3 plant deal. The plants shipped 30 days after I ordered. Almost too late to plant as it is now in the 90's here. The plants (tomatoes)themselves are 3 inches tall Poor quality,Β  if I knew what they were I would have never wasted my money. Pale and sickly.. if I would have planted seeds when I ordered them, the plants would be bigger and healthier. They have a 90 warranty, but its too late to replant a tiny plant. Not worth $30

Sent me the wrong item. I sent them an email, and they passed me off to another department who then gave me a rude response and ghosted me. I wanted the correct item to be sent or a refund. That's when communication stopped. They sucked me in with a 10% off offer. It could have been such a simple fix for them but now I will never order from Burpee again or buy their seeds in store. BEWARE BURPEE!

I purchased Armenian Cucumber seeds from Burpee Seeds and had a negative experience. 1. Too expensive for what I got. 2. Poor quality seeds and only one out of the 50 seeds germinated. 3. The customer service representative knew nothing about the seeds. She had to put me on hold to ask someone else for every question. 4. Slow shipping and they charge a ridiculous $6 to mail a small package of seeds Lesson learned....avoid Burpee seeds! I tried to direct sow... nothing. I tried to get them to sprout in a biodegradable peat pot on a plant warmer pad ... nothing. I tried putting seeds between damp paper towels in a baggie....one of 6 has a tiny root. Looking at the seeds they are hard, dry and small. I clipped a nick in the shell to see if it would germinate.... nothing. On the opposite spectrum, seeds from a vendor on Amazon had a 90 percent germination rate. The seeds are plump, larger and softer. With Burpee seeds, the shell is so hard there is no way they can germinate. I tried soaking the seeds before sowing... nothing. Save yourself the money and search for a better source like Johnny's Seeds.

I love doing business with Burpee Gardens! They offer an amazing selection of plants and services including free advice and a guarantee on the purchase. Everything is of good quality. Shipping is rapid and safe for live plants and other products. I purchased some lovely fig trees that arrived safely and quickly. I also purchased plant food for my house plants and lawn. I highly recommend Burpee Gardens for all your plant needs.
